P.F. Chang’s is rebuilding reasons to visit by serving two dining occasions: an accessible meal and a more memorable night out. Its approach combines value offers, premium dishes and tableside presentation, supported by content tailored to different audiences.
In a Marketing Dive interview published October 28, 2026, CMO Holly Smith described the task of converting affection for the brand into renewed visits. Remembering a restaurant fondly does not make it the next choice for dinner. New dishes and presentations provide a current reason to return.
The restaurant has introduced a new happy hour, premium permanent entrées and a wine list organized around flavor rather than grape variety. Those changes address different budgets and occasions within the same brand. The strategy is more specific than broadly discounting every meal: it offers an entry point while preserving something customers may choose for a celebration.
Marketing Dive reports that the chain advanced from 22nd to third in same-store sales growth within its competitive set. The comparison was compiled by the privately owned company from publicly reported results. It is not a ranking of the entire restaurant market and does not mean third place in market share. It also cannot isolate the contribution of a particular marketing campaign.
Smith reported that sushi boats associated with the Summer in Tokyo campaign had generated $2 million in sales by the interview. The dish's dry-ice presentation made a visible moment available for social content. That number describes menu sales reported by the executive, rather than profit, incremental revenue caused by advertising or a return on influencer spending. Costs and purchases displaced from other dishes would matter in a profitability assessment.
The chain works with freelance creators in different cities, micro-creators and larger influencers. For a restaurant operator, the useful lesson is to match content to a real dining occasion and a dish customers can order. A visually attractive campaign loses credibility if the kitchen and floor team cannot reproduce the advertised experience.
Smith also discussed plans for an internal AI system grounded in the company's context, with reporting and data efficiency on the agenda for 2027. Those plans are not evidence of an already demonstrated sales lift from AI. Smaller teams can start by agreeing on definitions for visits, orders and returning customers before introducing new reporting tools. Consistent data makes comparisons more useful than a persuasive dashboard alone. See our Services for help aligning customer-facing messages and campaign delivery.

No. The reported ranking concerns same-store sales growth in a competitive set compiled by the company, not total market share.
No. It is the executive-reported sales total for sushi boats, without a separate claim about profit or incremental advertising impact.
